Get Your Product On Ask Doctor Jo

Thanks for your interest in having your product appear on Ask Doctor Jo’s YouTube channel, website, and/or social media channels including Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Reddit, and Tumblr. We have several different ways to incorporate a product. These levels, and the fee involved for each, are described below.

Also, please read the Frequently Asked Questions at the bottom of this page for more details.

If you’d like to move forward with getting your product on Ask Doctor Jo, please contact us and let us know which level you are interested in purchasing.

NOTE: If after researching and using your product, Doctor Jo does not feel she can present your product favorably (i.e. it does not perform as advertised or is of poor quality), we will not move forward, and a full refund will be issued.

SOCIAL MEDIA POST: $500

This level includes static SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ONLY, there is NO VIDEO component or website component included at this level.

We will create two photos of Doctor Jo with your product. These photos will be used for two different posts on the Ask Doctor Jo Facebook page and Twitter page, and a single post on the Ask Doctor Jo Pinterest, Reddit, and Tumblr page. We will also do two posts in the “Community Tab” on the Ask Doctor Jo YouTube Channel (NOTE: The YouTube Community Tab is a place on YouTube where creators can interact with their viewers via status updates similar to Facebook. The Community Tab post will not include a video).

In addition to the photo of Doctor Jo with the product, each post will include a couple of sentences about the product as well as a link to purchase the product.

VIDEO SPONSORSHIP: $1,000

Within the first minute of a video, Doctor Jo will thank your company/product for sponsoring the video. At this time, she’ll hold up the product and direct viewers to click on a link if they would like to purchase the product. A YouTube “card” will also come up inviting viewers to purchase the product. Doctor Jo will not show, explain, demo, or talk about the product in any other part of the video. At the end of the video, Doctor Jo will again hold up the product and thank your company for sponsoring the video and direct viewers to a YouTube “end screen” graphic where they can purchase and learn more about your product.

We will also post the video (or a link to the video) on the Ask Doctor Jo website and social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, and Tumblr.

An example of a Video Sponsorship can be found in the video below at about the 0:13 mark.

PRODUCT PLACEMENT: $3,000

Your product will be used in one segment of a regular Ask Doctor Jo stretching and exercise video. In a product placement video, Doctor Jo does not explain or talk about the product or its features. Instead, she’ll simply use your product during one segment of a larger video. During that segment, she’ll mention she’s using your product and direct viewers to a YouTube “card” if they’d like to purchase it. Then again at the end of the video, she’ll hold up your product and direct viewers to a YouTube “end screen” graphic where they can purchase your product.

We will also post the video (or a link to the video) on the Ask Doctor Jo website and social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, and Tumblr.

An example of a Product Placement can be found in the video below at about the 2:43 mark.

PRODUCT MENTION: $5,000

Your product will be briefly talked about and used in the middle of an Ask Doctor Jo video. During this segment, Doctor Jo will mention she’s using your product, highlight a couple of the product’s features that she feels make it especially useful or unique, and then she’ll briefly show how to use it (this whole segemnt will last approximately 1-2 minutes). Also during the segment, one YouTube “card” will be displayed inviting viewers to purchase the product. At the end of the segment, Doctor Jo will direct viewers to another YouTube “card” to purchase the product. Finally, at the end of the video, she’ll hold up the product again and direct viewers to a YouTube “end screen” graphic where they can purchase your product.

We will also post the video (or a link to the video) on the Ask Doctor Jo website and social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, and Tumblr.

An example of a Product Mention can be found in the video below at about the 3:05 mark.

PRODUCT FEATURE: $7,500

Your product will be the centerpiece of a video. This is not a product review, step-by-step guide, or an infomercial showing everything there is to know about your product–those types of videos are not popular with our viewers. Instead, the video will focus on a general topic where your product is the example of what’s being discussed or used. For instance, in the video below, the topic of the video is “How to Use a TENS Unit,” and the product being featured is the TENS unit that’s used during the video. Near the beginning of the video, Doctor Jo will mention she’s using your product in the video. As the video progresses, she’ll casually mention some specific details about your product and some of the features that she feels makes it especially useful or unique as they relate to the overall video. The length of the video will depend entirely on how long it takes Doctor Jo to give a high level overview of the topic she’s discussing. During the video, two YouTube “cards” will be displayed inviting viewers to purchase the product. Then at the end of the video, Doctor Jo will hold up the product again and direct viewers to a YouTube “end screen” graphic where they can purchase your product.

We will also post the video (or a link to the video) on the Ask Doctor Jo website and social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, and Tumblr.

Here’s an example of a Product Feature.

Still have questions? Here are some FAQs.

Can I get a discount?
We do not give discounts unless you purchase multiple videos/posts (of any level) at the same time, or if we have worked together in the past. The discount varies based on the scope of the project. To discuss these kinds of products, please contact us.

Can I download the video (or parts of it) and re-upload it to my own YouTube channel, website, or social media page?
No. This practice can cause penalties by YouTube and other social media platforms resulting in little or no traffic for either of the videos. You are, however, encouraged to link to or share the link to our YouTube video on social media or embed the video on your website using the “embed” code provided on the original video by YouTube. If you have questions about how to do this, please ask us.

Can I tell you what to say about the product?
No. The videos/posts consist of Doctor Jo’s honest opinions after researching and using the product herself. She’ll highlight things she thinks will be of interest or use to our viewers. If there are things you want her to consider mentioning, please bring those to our attention BEFORE the video/post is shot. If Doctor Jo agrees with what you want to cover, she’ll be happy to include it if time and space permits.

Where do I send the product and/or payment?
These will both be listed in the Product Agreement you will need to sign before moving forward.

If I’m doing a “Social Media Post or Video Sponsorship,” do I still need to send you the product?
Yes. Doctor Jo will not put any products in her videos or posts that she has not first tried out for herself.

Will you put a link to purchase the product in the video’s description and/or on your website?
Yes. This can be a link to the product on Amazon or a link to the product’s sales page on your website. NOTE: If your product is available for sale on Amazon, we strongly suggest sending viewers there to purchase because in our experience, links to Amazon almost always result in more sales than a link to the product’s website.

Do you have any demographic data for your YouTube channel?
Yes. Here is some general demographic data based on the “watch time” for our YouTube channel:
Location: US (41%), India (14%), UK (8%), Canada (6%), Australia (3%), Other (28%). Gender: Male (51%), Female (49%) Age Ranges: 13-17 (2%), 18-24 (14%), 25-34 (27%), 35-44 (20%), 45-54 (15%), 55-64 (12%), 65+ (10%).

Will you put a link to my website in the video’s description or on your website?
No… and yes. We will only link to your website if that’s where you want us to direct viewers to purchase the product. In that case, the link must go directly to the product’s description/sales page. Again, if your product is available for sale on Amazon, we strongly suggest sending viewers there instead. In our experience, links to Amazon almost always result in more sales than a link to the product’s website.

Can I provide a product discount or do a product giveaway for your viewers?
Absolutely! We always recommend our partners offer a discount to our viewers. Even a discount of 10% can help increase the likelihood to buy. We usually don’t recommend a giveaway, however, because that can cause people to not purchase the product since they are hoping they’ll win the giveaway. If you decide to do a giveaway, you will be responsible for shipping the prize to the winner. NOTE: Doctor Jo will not mention a discount or giveaway in the actual video to avoid dating the video once the promotion has ended. Instead, information about the discount and/or giveaway will be listed in the video’s description.

How long does it take to make a product video?
We shoot videos about once a month, so depending on when you contact us, it could take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks before you get a link to the video for approval. We’ll be happy to give you an estimate once you decide to work with us.

Can I pick the date my video/post will launch?
Yes… kind of. The best days for video releases on our channel are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, so we always recommend one of those for videos. We also typically release just one video a week (and always have at least 5 days between video releases), so the date you want may already be taken. Once you decide to work with us, we can talk more about releasing the video on a specific date if you have one in mind. We’re a lot more flexible with Social Media Posts, so if you have particular dates in mind, just let us know.

Can you feature more than one of my products in a video/post?
No. We will only feature one product per video/post.

Will other products be featured in my product’s video/post?
We will only feature one paid product in a video. Doctor Jo may use other products in the video while performing a specific stretch or exercise, but the product will not be a competing product, and it will not be mentioned by a brand name or have callouts to purchase that product.

How many product sales can I expect?
It’s impossible for us to answer this question since it depends on many factors including the price of the product, the perceived value, the popularity of the topic the product relates to, whether or not you help us promote the video/post, etc. Some of our product videos are still generating multiple sales every week (several years after they were launched).

How many views will the video/post get?
Again, this is a question we can’t really answer due to all the reasons we listed in the previous answer. Our most successful product video has received more than 2.5 million views.

Can my product be in the crowdfunding stage?
No. At this time, we will not consider products that are in the crowdfunding stage.

Can my product be an app?
No. At this time, we will not consider products that are apps.

Once the video/post launches, can you tell me how many products were sold because of it?
If your product is sold on Amazon, we will create an Amazon Associates Link to the product for our viewers. This will allow us to track how many products are sold as a result of that link. We are happy to provide this information upon request for your product. Keep in mind, our Amazon Associates Link will not track sales from people who don’t click the link or who buy the product somewhere else. Tracking sales is another good reason to offer our viewers a discount since you will be able to track sales that way.
