Shoulder pain can be caused by tight muscles, especially when we have bad posture. Here are 3 of my favorite shoulder stretches to help relieve pain in the shoulders, neck, chest, and the upper back area.
First up is a rhomboid stretch. It can help loosen up the mid to upper back area as well as the shoulders.
Next, an upper trap stretch is great for the shoulders, neck, and the upper back area. This area also holds a lot of tightness when we are stressed.
Finally, a chest (pec) stretch will help open up the front of the shoulders and chest area. When the pec muscles are tight, they will pull or roll the shoulders forward, which can cause pain and bad posture.
Cervical radiculopathy, aka a pinched nerve in the neck, is basically when the nerve coming out of the spine gets irritated at the nerve root. This can cause pain & weakness going down into the arm. These simple stretches & exercises may help relieve the pain.
Frozen shoulder, which is technically known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition that causes stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint from adhesion build up.
These neck pain stretches are done in real time, so follow along if you want. They may help with general neck pain, neck spasms, tension headaches, or even that ole crick in the neck.
Cervical traction is a popular treatment for general neck pain and specific diagnoses like a pinched nerve known as radiculopathy, disc issues, arthritis, stenosis, and a few others.
Cervical spondylosis is a general term for the wear and tear of the spinal discs in the neck as we age. As the discs degenerate, signs of osteoarthritis develop. This can cause achiness and soreness as well as decreased motion in the neck.
My favorite exercise for the shoulder area is a shoulder or scapular squeeze. It’s great for the shoulders, neck, and upper back. This exercise is performed in real-time, so it’s easy to follow along if you want.
Headaches are often accompanied by neck pain. Relaxing the muscles around the neck and shoulder area with these stretches and exercise may help relieve the headache as well as the neck pain.
The neck flexor muscles are a set of deep muscles in the front of your neck that help keep your neck in a neutral position, and they also help with posture. Neck Flexors often become overused and weak due to long term phone and computer use. This causes forward neck posture which can cause pain, headaches, and sometimes even dizziness. These neck flexor stretches and exercises should help.
Cervical vertigo, also called cervicogenic dizziness, is a feeling of disorientation or unsteadiness caused by a neck injury or health condition that affects the neck. Here are some neck stretches & exercises that can help provide relief.
